Support Groups

You don’t have to do this alone.

We have two support groups – one for people in Recovery, and one for Family and Friends.

JACS Recovery Group

Our Recovery group meets online now that Covid-19. We meet every second Tuesday evening. 7pm

The group provides participants to come together with others who share the experiences associated with addiction and Jewish life. Using the principles of the Jewish path of Mussar, we discuss how participants can approach their recovery through the lens of improving character traits that may be the very issue that causes them to stumble. Examples of topics we have discussed are humility, anger, judgement. awareness, joy, strength…,there is a new topic each week.

Our support groups are unique and are not intended to replace one’s connection to Alanon or AA etc. These groups are also open to adults, parents, family, and friends that are affected by addiction. To learn more about our support groups, see our events calendar or contact our Manager of Counselling and Community education, Shelley Karrel by e-mail and at 778.882.2994 (please note our voicemail is 100% confidential).

“The group gives me the opportunity to expand my knowledge of Judaism, grow spiritually and connect safely with others. It has been invaluable in my recovery and is a key ingredient in maintaining my sobriety.” AM

Family Support Group

The JACS Support Group for Family and Friends is a safe place to connect with families that share the experiences associated with addiction and Jewish life. We meet online every second Tuesday evening. 7pm
