Our Approach

JACS Vancouver provides solution-focused therapies, workshops, and programming that incorporates holistic approach to each individual’s wellness and recovery plan.

JACS Vancouver facilitators and executive has extensive and cutting edge knowledge of, and training in, addiction and addiction treatments.

JACS Vancouver has established strong working relationships with treatment facilities, medical professionals, counsellors.

JACS Vancouver integrates a biopsychosocial approach to addressing some of the unique issues affecting individuals and families with addiction. For example, our staff and volunteers approach issues such as intergenerational trauma, multi layered pressure to succeed, and codependency, among others from a Jewish perspective.

JACS Vancouver understands that people with addiction are deserving of compassion and that the Jewish faith, culture and community offer an indispensable framework to aid in recovery from addiction. As a community, we are in a position to provide leadership and expertise in the field of addiction.

Research suggests that recovery is effective in a faith or community context. Recovery surrounded by those with a shared history and common understanding of Jewish family life, community and traditions facilitates trust and empathy, allowing participants to speak openly and honestly knowing that they will be understood and validated.

We want to let people struggling with addiction know that they are always “welcome to come home”, that the door to the our community is open, that they’ll be supported and their reconnection to their community of origin can be instrumental in their recovery.

An important element in the healing process is creating and connecting people to an accepting and nurturing environment (at JACS Vancouver or out in the community)  for anyone with addiction. For example, JACS Vancouver  helps improve access to Jewish events for Jews in recovery by advocating for dry community events.
